Competition FAQ
Why Compete?
USPDF is holding competitions so that every dancer has a chance to do the most basic movements, with some challenges, to show us that their physical strength is equal to their passion for dance. Our competitions do require you to be disciplined, fit and creative. USPDF hope that you are as excited as we are in promoting pole dance as a sensual athletic art form.
Help us break the stereotype that being sexy is taboo. Participating in the competition allows you to expand your pole dance network and communicate with other pole dancers all over the US.
Most importantly, compete because you love to pole dance.
How do I apply?
Once we announce an upcoming competition, there will be a direct link to application guidelines on the website. How old do I have to be?
At least 18 years of age.Are there any fees?

No, it’s not necessary. But our suggestion is to ask your local school or studio to sponsor you. Sponsorship is optional, but can help with expenses to prepare and get to the competition.I’m not a stripper and have never worked in a strip club, can I still apply?
Yes, of course! Pole dancing is NOT the same as stripping. This competition is for any woman who likes to pole dance. USPDF tolerates no nudity or vulgarity in either appearance or performance. Can guys enter the competition?
No sorry, fellas. This one is just for the ladies.I have a website where I upload my videos, would that be acceptable as a link for video submission?
Yes, absolutely. Your personal website, YouTube, Myspace, or Facebook accounts, are all acceptable means of submission. YOU can also send us a DVD. Make sure your video is unedited.Does it matter if video is edited or not?
Video needs to be unedited. Why the compulsory round?
USPDF is raising the bar for pole dancing. Since every dancer moves with individual style, we thought it was most fair to require elements of the routines. This way competitors are judged on an equal basis, similar to gymnastics, figures skating, and any other competitive sport. What if I’m not sure if I interpret the required elements for compulsory routine correctly?
Our final competitors are given a detailed description (“Finalist Manual”) of the required elements along with video examples. USPDF will make sure that final competitors fully understand what is expected in the routines.Do I have to use the required elements in my submission video?
No. The required elements are listed so that people who apply have an idea of what we expect if they get picked to go to the final round. Can I dance barefoot?
You have to wear heels for your compulsory round, but can be barefoot for your optional round. Can I dance on spinning pole instead of stationary pole?
Yes, that is why USPDF asks you in the application to check which pole you prefer. Will I be judged differently on a spinning versus stationary pole?
Yes, judging criteria will differ on a spinning pole from a stationary pole. That will be specifically explained for finalists. Can I do anything I want in my optional round?
No, you have to follow the guidelines in order not to be disqualified. Please see rules for optional round in Competition Guidelines. Will there be tickets sold so my friends, family and supporters can come to watch?
