Why Compete?
However, this competition requires you to be disciplined, fit and creative. USPDF hope that you are just as excited as we are to join us in promoting pole dance as a sensual athletic art form.
Help us break the stereotype that being sexy is taboo. Participating in the competition allows you to expand your pole dance network and communicate with other pole dancers.
How do I apply?
How old do I have to be?
At least 18 years of age.
Are there any fees?
Absolutely no fees of any kind for this year. Next year there will be some modest fees to be a member of the USPDF and entry fees for competitions held by USPDF.
Do I have to be affiliated with a studio?
It’s not necessary to belong to a studio. You can be a private individual not representing anyone but yourself. But our suggestion is to ask your local school to sponsor you. Sponsorship from a studio or school or another business is optional, to help with expenses to get to the competition and maybe prepare for the competition.
I’m not a stripper and have never worked in a strip club, can I still apply?
NO! You do not have to be a stripper to enter this show. We encourage everyday women to dominate this industry to bring it out of the strip clubs. Pole Dance is not stripping. USPDF tolerates no nudity or vulgarity in either appearance or performance.
Can guys enter the competition?
No, sorry fellas. This one is just for the ladies.
I have a website where I upload my videos, would that be acceptable as a link for video submission?
Yes, that’s absolutely fine. Links to websites, YouTube, Myspace, Facebook or sending us your DVD are all acceptable means of submission as long as video is unedited. No video attachments in emails.
Does it matter if video is edited or not?
Video needs to be unedited.
Why the compulsory round?
USPDF IS raising the bar for pole dancing. Since every individual is different in the way they move we thought it was most fair to require elements from the routines so that all competitors are judged on an equal basis.
What if I’m not sure if I interpret the required elements for compulsory routine correctly?
As soon as the 12 final competitors are accepted, they will be given a detailed description of the required elements along with examples on video. USPDF will make sure that final competitors fully understands what goes into the compulsory routines ahead of time.
Do I have to use the required elements in my submission video?
No, The required elements are listed so that people who apply have an idea of what we expect if they get picked to go to the final round.
Can I dance barefoot?
You have to wear heels for your compulsory round.
Can I dance on spinning pole instead of stationary pole?
Yes, that is why USPDF asks you in the application to check which pole you prefer.
Will I be judged differently on a spinning versus stationary pole?
No, everyone still has to do the compulsory round and optional round. Both poles are judged the same way.
Can I do anything I want in my optional round?
Will there be tickets sold so my friends, family and supporters can come to watch?
Yes. Ticket prices TBA.
